A Special Season-Long Partnership with UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Philadelphia
June 14, 2024Ensemble Arts Philly and The Philadelphia Orchestra are honored to announce a new, season-long community partnership with UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Philadelphia for the 2023-24 season! The United Negro College Fund is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide under-represented students with equal opportunities to become highly qualified college graduates. For more than seven decades, UNCF has helped more than 500,000 students to not just attend college, but “thrive, graduate, and become leaders.”
Both organizations have decided to strengthen our relationship following a previous partnership agreement earlier this year. For the performances of Drumline Live and Black Panther Live with The Philadelphia Orchestra last season, a percentage of all tickets sold went to UNCF scholarships and member schools!
We are excited to further our support for the work of UNCF Philadelphia with a portion of ticket proceeds, alongside ticket offers to UNCF constituents throughout the 2023-24 season with events such as a special reception prior to the Philadelphia Orchestra’s “Mitsuko Uchida Plays Ravel” on June 2, featuring The Philadelphia Orchestra-commissioned world premiere concerto by Valerie Coleman. And throughout the year, both parties will be working together to provide internships, cast appearances, master classes, and more wonderful opportunities at UNCF events.
“A commitment to education and to diversity are central to our mission and values, which align with the goals and objectives of UNCF (United Negro College Fund),” said Matías Tarnopolsky, president and CEO of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center. “We are excited about the possibilities that a season-long partnership can bring as we work together to uplift the city’s youth.”
Ensemble Arts Philly and Philadelphia Orchestra are committed to driving awareness of this important organization’s mission to help benefit under-represented students across the Philadelphia region. To learn more about UNCF, visit their website at uncf.org.
