The Plastics arrive in style as Mean Girls returns to the Miller Theater from October 3 - 8. Based on the movie written by Philadelphia native Tina Fey, watch high schooler Cady trade the African wilderness for an even more treacherous ecosystem - teenage girl world. With immense energy and wicked humor, this “feat” Broadway musical is one you won’t want to miss.
Approaching its 20th year on Broadway, Wicked returns to the Academy of Music from November 1 –26! Journey to the Land of Oz to uncover the origins of the legendary Wicked Witch of the West, when she was known just as Elphaba. A brand-new production of Stephen Sondheim’s COMPANY is in town November 28 – December 10, presented in partnership with The Shubert Organization. What better way to bask in that holiday feeling than by coming to see Cirque Dreams Holidaze at the Miller Theater from December 26 – 31. Featuring a variety of contemporary circus acts, this is a whimsical winter spectacular filled with beloved holiday characters that the whole family will enjoy. Jampacked with festive fun, these dazzling performances will leave you with visions of sugar plums dancing in your head until the new year.
The Tony Award-winning musical Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations grooves into the Academy of Music from January 3 – 21, 2024. Featuring classic hits such as “My Girl”, “Shout”, and “Papa Was Rolling Stone”, witness the extraordinary tale of success achieved by The Temptations, eventually earning them a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Winning the 2019 Tony Award for Best Choreography, this show will leave you jumping and jiving all night long!
All the way from the big screen comes Mrs. Doubtfire, a new musical adaptation of the beloved 1993 film comes to Philly straight from Broadway, January 3 – 21 at the Academy of Music. This hysterical and heartfelt story sees a divorced father of three who will do anything for his kids find a new way to connect with his family. Filled with crazy antics and big laughs, you won’t want to miss this box-office hit shine.
The soulful music of Bob Dylan comes to Broadway in Girl from the North Country – coming to Philadelphia from February 27 – March 10 at the Forrest Theatre. This new musical reimagines 20 iconic songs by Bob Dylan, giving life to a medley of travelers as their lives intersect and impact one another in unlikely ways during the height of the Great Depression. With hits like “Forever Young” and “Like A Rolling Stone”, this moving Broadway tale is a must-see for theatergoers.
Based on the Disney’s hit feature film, the musical adaptation of Frozen premieres at the Academy of Music next spring from March 21 – April 7. Travel to the magical world of Arendelle with Anna and Elsa, two sisters who learn that their true love for each other can conquer the coldest winters. After two years away, fan favorite Hadestown returns to the Academy of Music on April 10 – 14. Journey way down under the ground to witness two love stories unfold, as the Greek tragedies of Orpheus & Eurydice, and Hades & Persephone are recounted for new audiences to behold. Winner of 8 Tony Awards in 2019, Hadestown utilizes the power of song to bring the world back into tune in an unforgettable Broadway show of epic proportions.
From the creative mind of triple Olivier Award nominee Kate Prince comes the new dance-theatre show Message in a Bottle, premiering at the Miller Theater on May 14 - 19. Set in a fictional world devastated by civil war, this new production employs the music of Sting and underground hip-hop to tell the tale of three siblings facing challenges to find a new home. A narrative filled with love, loss, and hope, witness this ground-breaking production as it opens the door for a conversation about issues facing the world today.
Returning for its first revival since its original run on Broadway in 1964, Funny Girl comes to the Academy of Music from July 16 –28.
