FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (August 25, 2026) – Ensemble Arts Philly presents internationally acclaimed poet, comedian, public speaker, and actor ALOK and their Eat Pray Leave Tour at the Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Blending poetry, stand-up comedy, and powerful storytelling, ALOK's live performances invite audiences into an evening of humor, vulnerability, and insight that challenge conventions while celebrating the beauty of human connection.
“ALOK's work demonstrates the unique power of live performance to foster empathy, curiosity, and connection,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “Through a compelling blend of comedy, poetry, and storytelling, they create space for audiences to reflect, laugh, and engage with ideas that feel both deeply personal and universally relevant. At Ensemble Arts Philly, we believe the arts bring people together across experiences and perspectives, and we are proud to present artists like ALOK whose work invites meaningful dialogue while celebrating our common humanity.”
ALOK has become one of the world's most influential voices on gender, creativity, and belonging. Their work seamlessly weaves together comedy, spoken word, and social commentary, creating performances that are as thought-provoking as they are entertaining. Having captivated audiences in more than 40 countries, ALOK has sold out performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Netflix Is A Joke Festival, earning international recognition for their singular artistic voice.
ALOK’s literary works – including Beyond the Gender Binary, Femme in Public, and Your Wound, My Garden – have garnered global acclaim. Their first comedy special, BIOLOGY!, was executive produced by Christopher Guest. They are also the subject of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival docu-short ALOK, executive produced by Jodie Foster and directed by Alex Hedison. On screen, ALOK has appeared in Complicated Order, The Trans List, and the forthcoming Absolute Dominion. Television credits include HBO's The Sex Lives of College Girls, Sort Of, and Random Acts of Flyness, as well as Hulu's Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne and Netflix's Gender Agenda comedy special and Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.
