FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 22, 2026) – Ensemble Arts Philly, in association with S2BN, presents hit musical, Bat Out of Hell - The Musical, at the Miller Theater on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at 8:00 p.m. The iconic music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf will shake the stage, delivering an electrifying journey that will ignite a love for rock like never before.
Bat Out of Hell - The Musical, by Jim Steinman, tells the story of rebellious youth and passion as Strat, the immortal leader of The Lost, falls in love with Raven, the beautiful daughter of the tyrannical ruler Falco. This heart-pounding experience, featuring a powerhouse eight-piece live band on stage, delivers a new production with sprawling multi-level platforms that transports you from Raven’s bedroom to the underground world of the Lost in a visual feast that pushes the boundaries of live theater. Experienced unmatched vocal talents bring Meat Loaf’s anthems to life, including “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)”, “Paradise By The Dashboard Light”, “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad”, “Dead Ringer For Love’” and, of course, “Bat Out of Hell”.
“Bat Out of Hell - The Musical delivers the raw power and passion that makes live theater unforgettable,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “Ensemble Arts Philly prides itself on presenting world-class performances for every audience, and the iconic music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf is the perfect example of the unforgettable experiences we offer year-round.”
Bat Out of Hell became one of the best-selling albums in 1977, selling over 50 million copies worldwide; 16 years later, Steinman scored again with Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell, which contained the hit ‘“I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)”.
Originally presented at the Manchester Opera House in 2017, the show opened at the West End’s London Coliseum later that year. It subsequently played Toronto before returning to London’s West End, where it broke box-office records at the Dominion. An international tour followed across the U.K., Ireland, Germany, and Australia. The musical made its American premiere in summer 2019 at New York City Center. The latest U.K. tour kicked off in January 2025 and ran through September 2025.
