FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (October 3, 2024) – Ensemble Arts Philly is thrilled to present Grammy nominee and Soul Train Award winner, Boney James, and his highly anticipated Slow Burn Tour in the Miller Theater on November 9, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. An evening filled with sultry and heart-stirring rhythms awaits Philadelphia’s lively and passionate jazz lovers.
James, a maestro of contemporary jazz, will be performing in Philly on this leg of his nationwide Slow Burn Tour, which has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Known for his powerhouse performances and mesmerizing saxophone skills, James will deliver a memorable and captivating performance.
“Boney James has said his new album’s title, Slow Burn, is indicative of the trajectory of his career, and what a career he’s had so far,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “A veteran musician, this one-night-only performance brings the new work of a living legend to Philadelphia’s jazz community.”
James is a four-time Grammy nominee and a Soul Train Award winner, reigning in the jazz community for over three decades. He has sold over three million albums and accumulated four RIAA Gold-certified albums, becoming one of the most successful instrumental artists of our time. His repertoire blends contemporary smooth jazz with R&B influences, creating a unique sound that resonates with fans across the globe.
James’ 19th studio album, Slow Burn, will be released in October 2024. Slow Burn follows two of the most successful albums of James’ career, 2020’s Solid and 2022’s Detour, which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart.
Boney James: Slow Burn is a part of Ensemble Arts Philly’s 2024-25 Jazz Series.
