BOZ SCAGGS IN RHYTHM REVIEW 2025,
NOVEMBER 15, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (October 2, 2025) – Ensemble Arts Philly, in association with SLP Concerts, presents Grammy® Award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist Boz Scaggs in his Rhythm Review 2025 tour at Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on November 15, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. The legendary Boz Scaggs, celebrated for his silky-smooth vocals and timeless hits, will perform an unforgettable evening filled with soulful ballads and dynamic rhythms.
Scaggs is credited with playing a pivotal role in the formation of the band Toto. For his 1976 album Silk Degrees, he selected musicians including David Paich, David Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro, all of whom had previously performed together. Touring with Scaggs helped solidify their decision to start a band. Columbia Records recognized their talent and offered the group a contract without an audition. Over the years, their collaborations have continued, including Paich’s contributions to Scaggs’ 2001 album, Dig.
“We are thrilled to welcome Boz Scaggs, an artist whose remarkable legacy and influence on blues, rock, and soul spans generations,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “He is an unparallelled addition to our 2025–26 season, one brimming with offerings across rock, comedy, speakers, dance, Broadway, and family-friendly presentations.”
After performing with Steve Miller in both The Ardells and The Steve Miller Band, Scaggs launched his solo career in 1969. He achieved mainstream success with his 1976 album Silk Degrees, which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit singles Lido Shuffle and Lowdown. He followed up with two more platinum-certified albums: Down Two Then Left and Middle Man, the latter producing the Top 40 singles “Breakdown Dead Ahead” and “Jojo.” Following a hiatus during most of the 1980s, Scaggs returned to recording and touring in 1988, joining The New York Rock and Soul Revue.
Scaggs also founded Slim's, a popular San Francisco music venue, that operated until 2020. He has remained active in recording and touring through the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s; his most recent album, Out of the Blues, was released in 2018.
Other featured upcoming performances include Gary Gulman: Grandiloquent (November 14–15, 2025, Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center); Whitney Cummings: Big Baby (November 22, 2025, Miller Theater); The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show (November 29, 2025, Miller Theater); PHILADANCO!
