Ensemble Arts Philly Presents

David Nihill: Taking Tangents Tour

February 02, 2026

ENSEMBLE ARTS PHILLY
INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED COMEDIAN
AND BESTSELLING AUTHOR,
DAVID NIHILL,
WITH HIS TAKING TANGENTS TOUR
 MARCH 8, 2026

Winner of San Francisco Comedy Competition and named Best International Act at The Comics Lounge Melbourne International Comedy Festival

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (January 26, 2026 Ensemble Arts Philly presents the return of David Nihill with his Taking Tangents Tour at the Perelman Theater inside of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on March 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. After a sold-out world tour, comedian and author David Nihill is back with his brand-new show, Taking Tangents, which promises to do exactly that.

Leaving Dublin, Ireland, where he was born and raised until the age of 22, Nihill got drunk on travel and never quite hit sobriety of it. He has lived and worked in twelve countries and visited over seventy. His shows draw on his wide travels, cultural observations, attempts at language study, (occasional) international drinking session(s), and being a mildly confused immigrant.

“Ensemble Arts Philly brings world-class entertainment to the heart of Philadelphia – hosting more than a million visitors each year for live performances ranging from Broadway to comedy, intimate concerts to dance, and free community celebrations,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “As part of this year’s comedy lineup, David Nihill returns to the intimate Perelman Theater stage, bringing with him a global perspective and a sharp wit.”

Nihill is the winner of the prestigious annual San Francisco Comedy Competition, (previous finalists include Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dana Carvey) and runner-up in the Moth's largest US Grandslam storytelling competition. He recorded his debut special, Documented, for Dry Bar Comedy in 2019, his follow up, Cultural Appreciation, in 2023, and his award-winning Shelf Help in 2025. He has been featured on TED.com, Sirius XM, Just For Laughs, Netflix is a Joke Festival, RTE's Late Late Show, The Irish Independent, Inc., NPR, and the Huffington Post, among others. A festival favorite, Nihill’s videos have gone viral many times over with over 500 million views and a social following of over two million people.

Other featured upcoming performances include Ali Siddiq: In the Shadows Tour (February 21, 2026, Marian Anderson Hall inside the Kimmel Center); Blue Man Group (February 24–March 1, 2026, Miller Theater); Kurt Elling: Wildflowers (February 27, 2026, Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center); Emmet Cohen: Miles and Coltrane at 100 (March 20, 2026, Miller Theater); Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare® Hamlet (March 20– 21, 2026, Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center); and Mae Martin: The Possum (March 27, 2026, Miller Theater).
