FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 1, 2023) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with Outback Presents, welcomes stand-up comedian and actor, David Spade, in his Catch Me Inside Tour on December 2, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. at the Campus’ Miller Theater.
Born in Birmingham, Michigan, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, David Spade began his career performing stand-up comedy in clubs, theaters, and colleges across the country. He quickly became a household favorite during his tenure and television debut on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. He starred or co-starred in the films Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, Joe Dirt, Benchwarmers, Grownups, Hotel Transylvania, The Wrong Missy, among other films and TV shows, including Just Shoot Me, for which he received Emmy, Golden Globe, and American Comedy Award nominations.
“With a signature wit, David Spade is one of the biggest names in comedy of the past few decades,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming & Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “He joins a robust fall comedy lineup heavy with fellow Saturday Night Live alums, including Steve Martin and Martin Short.”
Currently, Spade can be heard co-hosting his podcast Fly on the Wall alongside Saturday Night Live (SNL) alum, Dana Carvey. In each episode, they interview different former Saturday Night Live cast members, hosts, writers, and musical guests, as they share never-before told stories about their careers and how SNL's cultural history has impacted their lives beyond the show. The podcast premiered at #1 in the comedy category & in the top five overall on Apple’s podcast chart and has since been nominated for Podcast Of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. Now on its second season, the podcast has featured interviews with Sir Paul McCartney, Lorne Michaels, Jimmy Fallon, Martin Short, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, Tom Hanks, and many more.
Spade also starred in the Netflix original comedy, Father of the Year, which was one of the highest streamed films globally on Netflix, as well as in one of Netflix’s biggest original film releases, The Do-Over, opposite Adam Sandler and Paula Patton. In 2020, Spade starred in the Netflix original comedy, The Wrong Missy, which was the #1 movie on Netflix in the days following its release.
