Ensemble Arts Philly Presents

Dog Man: The Musical

March 04, 2026

ENSEMBLE ARTS PHILLY PRESENTS
THE FAMILY HIT DOG MAN: THE MUSICAL

FOR FIVE SHOWS ONLY
AT THE MILLER THEATER,
APRIL 25–26, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (March 4, 2026– Ensemble Arts Philly is thrilled to present TheaterWorksUSA’s Dog Man: The Musical at the Miller Theater for five performances from April 25–26, 2026, as part of the 2025–26 Family Discovery Series. Based on the worldwide bestselling books by Dav Pilkey, this outrageously funny and charming musical follows Dog Man  part dog, part policeman  as he protects the city while trying his best to be a good boy.

Dog Man loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture  but being a good boy isn’t always easy. Can he save the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and his army of Beasty Buildings? Can he catch Petey, the world’s most evil cat, who has cloned himself to exact revenge on the doggy do-gooder? And will George and Harold manage to finish their show before lunchtime? Filled with action, silliness, and heart, Dog Man: The Musical brings beloved characters from Dav Pilkey  the creator of Captain Underpants and Cat Kid Comic Club  to vibrant life onstage.

It is such a joy to introduce young audiences to the magic of seeing their favorite characters leap from page to stage,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations“Through our annual Family Discovery Series, Ensemble Arts Philly presents programming across a variety of genres – theater, dance, orchestral – that sparks curiosity and creates lifelong arts lovers.”

Dog Man: The Musical features a book and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila (two-time Emmy Award–winning writer of PBS’s Peg + Cat); music by Brad Alexander (Drama Desk–nominated See Rock City & Other Destinations); and original direction and choreography by Jen Wineman (NY: Less Than 50%).

sensory friendly performance will also be offered April 25 at 5 p.m., providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for individuals with sensory needs – including people on the autism spectrum, young children, and those new to live entertainment. This modified performance allows audience members to move freely, make noise as needed, and enjoy the show in a safe, non-judgmental environment, supported by staff trained to accommodate guests’ needs.

The Dog Man: The Musical performances are part of Ensemble Arts’ 2025–26 Family Discovery Series. Other upcoming shows in the 2025–26 Family Discovery Series include: The Sound of Music (March 31–April 5, 2026, Academy of Music) and Peppa Pig: My First Concert (April 4, 2026, Miller Theater).
