FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 8, 2025) – Ensemble Arts Philly presents renowned astrophysicist and author, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, and his tour, The Cosmic Perspective, in Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on October 20, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Tyson invites audiences to examine our place in the universe and consider the profound ways that cosmic insights shape our understanding of science, culture, and everyday life. The Cosmic Perspective offers a powerful view of the world, showcasing Earth as just one planet in an expansive universe, aimed to profoundly alter how we perceive everything around us.
"Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson has a rare gift for transforming complex scientific concepts into digestible content for viewers, educating us and inspiring us with the intricacy of our world,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “This presentation, like many of our theatrical events, is intended to inspire audiences, to educate us, and to challenge the way we see our world.”
Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is an award-winning astrophysicist, author, and science communicator born and raised in New York City. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, earned a BA in Physics from Harvard, and completed a PhD in Astrophysics at Columbia University. He has been a significant advisor on U.S. space policy, serving on presidential commissions and NASA’s Advisory Council. He is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History and a research associate in its Department of Astrophysics.
Tyson has published over eighteen books, including bestsellers like Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, The Pluto Files, and Starry Messenger. He is well known as the host of PBS’s NOVA ScienceNOW, FOX’s Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, and the StarTalk podcast. His engaging media presence and accessible writing have earned him numerous awards, including 27 honorary doctorates, the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, and an asteroid and a frog species named in his honor. Tyson continues to inspire broad public interest in science and the cosmos.
