December 08, 2025

ENSEMBLE ARTS PHILLY PRESENTS

STEP AFRIKA! THE EVOLUTION TOUR,

A DYNAMIC CELEBRATION OF RHYTHM,

MOVEMENT, & HERITAGE,

 FEBRUARY 7, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (December 10, 2025)   Ensemble Arts Philly welcomes Step Afrika!: The Evolution Tour to the Miller Theater on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The internationally acclaimed dance company will transform the stage into a pulsating celebration of rhythm, movement, and community, showcasing the athletic artistry and cultural significance of stepping through an evening of high-energy performance and audience engagement.

Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, traditional African dancers, and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding.

"Step Afrika!’s The Evolution Tour brings unparalleled energy, artistry, and cultural celebration to our stage, illustrating our commitment to presenting performances that honor tradition while sparking new conversations for Philadelphia,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “We hope this internationally renowned company’s dynamic fusion of movement, rhythm, and history inspires and engages our Family Discovery Series audiences and beyond."

The world's leading authority on the art form of stepping, Step Afrika! is critically acclaimed for its efforts to promote an understanding and appreciation for stepping and the dance tradition's use as an educational tool for young people worldwide. In stepping, the body is used as an instrument to create intricate rhythms and sounds through a combination of footsteps, claps, and spoken word. Step Afrika! has elevated this art form to new heights, using complex, intricate footwork, synchronized movements, and percussion to create a mesmerizing spectacle.

Step Afrika!: The Evolution Tour is part of Ensemble Arts Philly’s 2025–2026 Family Discovery Series.
