ENSEMBLE ARTS PHILLY PRESENTS
A GUARANTEED HILARIOUS NIGHT OUT WITH
THE IMPROVISED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY®
AT THE KIMMEL CENTER,
 SEPTEMBER 19 – 20, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(August 5, 2025) – Ensemble Arts Philly presents The Improvised Shakespeare Company®, a unique and witty theatrical experience, in the Perelman Theater inside the Kimmel Center on September 19 and 20, 2025.  Audiences will not want to miss their chance to experience this one-of-a-kind production and guaranteed hilarious night out!

Based on one audience suggestion (a title of a show that has never been written), The Improvised Shakespeare Company creates a brand new, fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your eyes. Nothing has been planned out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if you're ever wondering where the story is going... so are they! You've never seen the Bard like this before – or laughed this much.

“Each performance by The Improvised Shakespeare Company is a one-of-a-kind event – crafted spontaneously in the moment, never to be repeated in exactly the same way, and always full of surprises,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Programming and Presentations. “It’s a thrilling tribute to Shakespeare’s wit and a powerful reminder of the magic of live theater.”

The Improvised Shakespeare Company is one of the most critically-acclaimed improv troupes in the world. It was founded in Chicago in 2005, where its hit show, Improvised Shakespeare Chicago℠, still runs today. The ISC performs regularly at Largo in Los Angeles and has been featured at the Kennedy Center, 92nd St Y, Bonnaroo, San Francisco Sketchfest, Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, Sun Valley Writers’ Conference, and the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and Chicago. Previous ISC guest performers include Jason Alexander, Bradley Whitford, Helen Hunt, and Sir Patrick Stewart, who also presented the troupe at the Soho Theatre in London.

Other featured upcoming performances include An Evening with Phil Rosenthal of “Somebody Feed Phil” (September 12, 2025, Miller Theater); Good Things: An Evening with Samin Nosrat (September 17, 2025, Miller Theater); Nikki Glaser: Alive and Unwell Tour (September 19 – 20, 2025, Marian Anderson Hall inside the Kimmel Center); MasterChef All-Stars Live!
