Vitamin String Quartet

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (December 10, 2024) – Ensemble Arts Philly is thrilled to present one of the most popular contemporary string ensembles in the world, Vitamin String Quartet, bringing fresh, classically-inspired takes on your popular favorite hits with The Music of Taylor Swift, Bridgerton, and Beyond at the Miller Theater on February 12, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.

Long before Bridgerton broke the Netflix algorithm, the Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) had helped establish classical crossover as a genuine force in contemporary music. Fresh off high-profile placements in Seasons 1 and 2 of the streaming smash hit TV show, VSQ “reached a mainstream, global audience” (Variety) and “charmed the world with their classical covers” (Nylon). New York Observer wrote, “VSQ’s atmospheric hits have made classical versions of pop music cool.”

On their last tour, VSQ created fresh arrangements of the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift, performing spellbinding and innovative renditions of Swift’s music, alongside familiar hits from Billie Eilish, BTS, Bridgerton, The Weeknd, and Daft Punk. VSQ are one of the most popular string ensembles in the world with over two billion streams and seven albums charting on both Billboard Classical and Classical Crossover charts.

“Vitamin String Quartet interprets today’s most mainstream hits using a cello, two violins, and a viola,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “Without set artists, the nature of the group is inherently eclectic and fluid, bringing new perspectives and versions to well-known hits.”

The group began in 1999 as an experiment in transforming rock and pop songs with classical instruments, later expanding to include a variety of popular music. VSQ’s music has appeared in high profile TV and films such as Netflix’s Bridgerton, HBO’s Westworld and The King of Staten Island, Showtime’s Shameless, and ABC’s Modern Family. VSQ creates their classical renditions from Prince, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish to Cardi B, Bjork, Studio Ghibli, and goth metal, with respect and care, breathing new life into music they already love. Their longstanding VSQ Performs the Hits series has allowed them to transform the best hits pop has to offer over the past years, and their full-length album VSQ Performs Lana Del Rey was nominated for Best Classical Record in the 2021 Libera Awards. Their latest album, VSQ Performs Taylor Swift was released in February 2024.
