Opening with the rapturous motet Exsultate, jubilate for soprano, this all-Mozart program is a joyous feast of Mozart masterpieces. The title work is the celebratory Coronation Mass, so named because it became the preferred music for imperial coronations, including two Habsburg emperors.
The Symphony No. 40 in g minor is one of his most celebrated and widely performed works and one of a trio of symphonies (all three written within three months in 1788) considered the pinnacle of his symphonic works. Rounding out this fabulous program is the breathtaking Piano Concerto No. 20, in which Maestro Radu will perform as soloist while also conducting from the keyboard (as did Mozart).
