This production is more than a show—it is a declaration of hope, a celebration of survival, and a call to amplify the voices of young women whose stories often go unheard.
“The Ghetto: This Joy I Have…” is the culminating performance of an eight-week therapeutic arts camp for Black girls, rooted in healing, storytelling, and joy. Presented by The Legends House, this bold, poetic, and deeply emotional production weaves together dance, spoken word, and theatre to explore themes of grief, PTSD, resilience, and Black girlhood in America.
Led by poet and psychotherapist Shayna Yvonne Rudd, The Legends House is honored to partner with the University of Pennsylvania and has recently received major funding from the Philadelphia District Attorney's Anti-Gun Violence Grant.
This is a facility rental event presented by an independent organization.
