Larry Magid’s 60+ year career in music and entertainment began in 1962. He opened the legendary club Electric Factory, where Hendrix, Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Cream, Elton John, and the Who all played. In 1985, Magid co-produced Live Aid, the world's largest music event. He continues to produce tours today and is a two-time Tony Award winner (Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical). The Philadelphia Music Book encapsulates the sounds of a city with over 300 biographies and stories about artists from the area who have gained national and international recognition, covering every major genre over the past two centuries.
Larry Platt is the President and CEO of the nonprofit Citizen Media Group, publisher of Philadelphia magazine, the civic-minded Philadelphia Citizen, and all of their affiliated titles and brands. He is the author or co-author of six books, including the New York Times bestselling memoir Every Day I Fight, the story of ESPN sportscaster Stuart Scott’s epic battle with cancer, and producer of Kelce, the Emmy-nominated Amazon Prime documentary. Platt is the former editor of both Philadelphia magazine and the Philadelphia Daily News, and a former columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer. His writing has appeared in GQ, the New York Times Magazine, New York, Men’s Journal, Playboy, and Sports Illustrated, among other publications.
