Planned Giving
Leave Your Legacy
Set the stage for the future of the arts
You can make a lasting difference through planned giving by including The Philadelphia Orchestra, Ensemble Arts, or both, in your estate plans. A planned gift ensures that the music, education, and performing arts experiences you love will continue to inspire audiences for generations to come.
Why Consider a Planned Gift?
- Make an impact now by committing to a future charitable contribution
- Support the music and performances you love while maintaining control of your assets
- Create a lasting legacy that reflects your values
- Receive potential tax advantages for you or your family
- Join a community of donors committed to ensuring the longevity of the arts
I want to help the arts continue into the future, and provide others the immense cultural and personal benefits the arts have provided me.
Planned Giving Options
There are many ways to give your support now through planned giving—often without affecting your financial security during your lifetime. Below are some of the most popular and flexible legacy giving options.
Bequests
Bequests
Many donors choose to make a bequest because it is easy to execute, flexible, and doesn’t require parting with any assets during your lifetime. With the help of your advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift to The Philadelphia Orchestra, Ensemble Arts, or both. You can give:
- A specific dollar amount or asset
- A percentage of your estate
- A residual amount after other commitments are fulfilled
You may also direct your gift to a program area that reflects your personal passion.
Beneficiary Designations
Beneficiary Designations
Naming The Philadelphia Orchestra or Ensemble Arts as a beneficiary of your unused retirement assets, investment or bank accounts, and/or life insurance policy is a simple way to make a future gift.
- Update your beneficiary designation form through your account administrator
- Maintain the ability to access and use your account assets during your lifetime
This option allows you to make a meaningful impact without altering your current financial plans.
Charitable Gift Annuities
Charitable Gift Annuities
A Charitable Gift Annuity allows you to support The Philadelphia Orchestra while receiving a dependable income for life. When you establish a CGA by transferring cash or appreciated securities:
- You receive fixed payments for life (often partially tax-free)
- You qualify for a charitable income tax deduction
- The remainder of your gift is added to the Orchestra’s permanent Endowment Fund
Please note: this option is currently only available for planned gifts to The Philadelphia Orchestra. You must be at least 60 years of age to receive payments.
Planned Giving Societies
We are honored to recognize our legacy donors as members of our distinguished societies: The Frances Anne Wister Society (The Philadelphia Orchestra) and The Honickman Family Society (Ensemble Arts). Legacy donors are recognized on a special page in the Playbill and are invited to an annual celebration event honoring their generosity.
