Everything about this program charms, with music full of wit and warmth and color. Shubert’s Eighth Symphony does not sound “Unfinished,” despite its moniker, with burnished woodwinds leading us along a dappled path of dark and light. Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings unfolds with glowing melodies and folk-inspired warmth, moving from tender intimacy to buoyant, dance-like joy. Strauss’s Oboe Concerto, which has a special place in Philadelphia Orchestra history, shines in the hands of Philippe Tondre.
