The Philadelphia Orchestra invites you to celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake with a vibrant concert that weaves together classical works and traditional sounds, celebrating diverse artistic expressions. Hear Li Huanzhi’s beloved Spring Festival Overture alongside classical favorites like Johann Strauss Jr.’s Overture to Die Fledermaus.
Plus, East and West meet in the North American premiere of Mason Bates’s “Spring River Flowers by Moonlight,” a Philadelphia Orchestra co-commission inspired by Tang dynasty poet Zhang Ruoxu. The piece expresses “the sorrow and longing in the poem in carefully crafted vocal lines that caressed the voice” (Seen and Heard International).
Don't miss this celebration of cultural exchange through the power of music.
