Revisiting an audience favorite from the quartet’s earliest days, violinist Colin Jacobsen’s Beloved, do not let me be discouraged references the tragic story of the ill-fated lovers Layla and Majnun; Gabriela Lena Frank’s latest string quartet explores the tumultuous relationship between Mexican painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera; and Death and the Maiden, Schubert’s iconic dialogue between a terrified young woman and death, receives Brooklyn Rider’s signature interpretation.
