Comprising 18 top Black and Latinx classical soloists, the Sphinx Virtuosi invites audiences to reflect on who we are and who we aspire to become. To mark our nation’s 250th anniversary, they present newly commissioned works and reimagined classics that reflect America’s many voices and shared ideals. Their program features Declaration, a bold original song cycle spotlighting Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges, with music by acclaimed composer Damien Geter and a libretto by Sphinx founder Aaron Dworkin. Works by Roberto Sierra and Jessie Montgomery offer vibrant explorations of heritage and transformation, while Stravinsky’s Concerto for Strings in D connects past and present in a timeless meditation on artistic freedom.
