Two multifaceted pianists join forces for a must-see duo recital exploring themes of American art and musical language. Praised for his “superb blend of crisp keyboard clarity and soft-edged lyricism” (San Francisco Chronicle), Timo Andres makes his inaugural PCMS appearance while Aaron Diehl—known for his “traditional jazz sound with a sophisticated contemporary spin” (The Guardian)—returns following his highly-acclaimed 2024 debut. Their program traverses a variety of American sounds and experiences, including music by Duke Ellington, Julia Wolfe, and Thelonious Monk. The duo also offers selections from Andres’s debut album Shy and Mighty, as well as a new work that will have its Philadelphia Premiere.
