Mozart composed most of his piano concertos to highlight his pianistic virtuosity.
Two of his personal favorites included the spirited “Jeunehomme” and the melodramatic Concerto No. 20 in D minor. Mikhail Voskresensky, a famous Russian pianist and music pedagogue who left Russia for the United States in 2022 to protest against the invasion of Ukraine, will perform both concertos. Jennifer Higdon’s Soliloquy will complete the program.
