“Someone Gets Hurt” from Mean Girls – October 3 – 8, 2023

There are so many great choices in Mean Girls (written by Philly native Tina Fey), it was hard to pick just one song! But the villainous “Someone Gets Hurt” sung by Regina George is a standout from this show. Watch former Broadway star and current actress/singer Renee Rapp’s performance of the song below and then get your tickets to sit with us when the show returns October 3-8, 2023 at the Miller Theater.

“Defying Gravity” from WickedNovember 1 – 26, 2023

With one of Broadway’s most popular musicals, we had to pick one of the most well-known Broadway showstopping songs... The critically acclaimed "Defying Gravity" was the obvious choice for Wicked. This act one closing number has Elphaba standing her ground and vowing to live without the limits others have set for her in a memorable feat of flight. Watch Idina Menzel who originated the role Elphaba on Broadway perform the song solo below, and then make sure to catch Wicked when it flies into the Academy of Music, November 1-26, 2023.

“Company” from Company – November 28 – December 10, 2023

By the late Stephen Sondheim, Company follows Bobbie, a person on the edge of turning 35 surrounded by sets of married friends, who is hounded by the age-old question – when are YOU getting married? Using a unique non-linear structure of story vignettes, Company has add a variety of revivals since its debut in 1970 including one that we were a producer on and won a Tony Award for in 2022. Watch the opening number below and then see this award-winning production when it hits Philly at the Forrest Theatre, November 28 – December 10, 2023.

“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” from Ain’t Too Proud  - January 3 – 22, 2023

The story of the beloved American vocal group The Temptations comes to life on the stage in this smash-hit jukebox musical tracking the band’s rise to fame from Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The show includes all the band’s top hits as heard live in this medley performed by the original Broadway cast at the 2019 Tony Awards. Don’t miss this show bring its smooth moves and soulful melodies to the Academy of Music from January 3 – 22, 2024.

“Rockin’ Now” from Mrs. Doubtfire – February 6 – 18, 2024

Adapted from the hit 1993 film of the same name starring the late Robin Williams, Mrs. Doubtfire proves that love will prevail no matter the situation by addressing themes of divorce and the effect it has on families in a hilarious script. The song “Rockin’ Now” has father Daniel (played by Philly native Rob McClure in the original Broadway cast!) thriving in his new role in his kids’ lives as Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire. Watch the exciting performance by the original Broadway cast on Good Morning America below, and then see Mrs. Doubtfire in its first tour February 6-18, 2024 at the Academy of Music.

“Like a Rolling Stone” from Girl from the North Country – February 27 – March 10, 2024

Girl from the North Country will transform the Forrest Theatre stage from February 27 to March 10, 2024 into Duluth, Minnesota, as the lives of a few locals and wayward travelers intersect to change everything at one guest house in 1934. Featuring the hit songs of Bob Dylan, this beautiful production reimages 20 of his legendary songs, including “Like a Rolling Stone” which you can watch in this video of Frances McNamee and the UK & Ireland tour cast.

“Monster” from Disney’s Frozen ­- March 21 – April 7, 2024

Everyone has heard “Let it Go” from Disney’s hit film Frozen by now, but did you know that the stage production adds a new standout song for Elsa that is sure to dazzle you? Hear “Monster” sung by Broadway star Cassie Levy, who originated the role of Elsa on Broadway in the video below. We hope this song gets you hyped to see Disney’s Frozen make its national tour debut in Philly, bringing the fire and ice of Arendelle to the Academy of Music, March 21 – April 7, 2024.

“Wait For Me (Reprise)” from Hadestown ­– April 10 – 14, 2024

A Philly favorite from last year, Hadestown returns to the Academy of Music April 10 – 14, 2024 to take audiences on a journey to the Underworld. This retelling of the tragic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice sees the Underworld turned to an industrial Hell by Hades, torn apart by his love for his wife Persephone. The Tony Award-winning musical with songs by Anais Mitchell, this musical will have you returning again and again hoping that it ‘might turn out different this time.’ Get a taste for the incredible ensemble cast of this show by watching the below performance of “Wait For Me (Reprise)” by the entire original Broadway cast on CBS This Morning. Then grab your ticket to the train to Hadestown and plan to get on board April 10 -14, 2024.

“Don’t Rain on My Parade” from Funny Girl ­– July 16 – 28, 2024

Vaudeville’s sweetheart Fanny Brice’s life comes to the stage in this bittersweet, classic musical featuring an iconic score by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill. Following Fanny from the Lower East Side up to stardom, Funny Girl dazzles as a love letter to the theatre especially in this sensational new production that has been taking Broadway by storm. Listen to the ever-enduring “Don’t Rain On My Parade” performed below by Lea Michele and the revival’s Broadway cast. Then catch this stunning show live at the Academy of Music July 16 – 28, 2024!

“Dancing Queen” from Mamma Mia – August 6 – 11, 2024

Mamma mia, here we go again! It’s almost impossible to pick just one song from the collection of ABBA songs featured in Mamma Mia, but we did it…because in the end the only correct answer is “Dancing Queen.” Who couldn’t love the exciting disco number that can make anyone feel young again when singing and dancing along. Adapted into a beloved film in 2008 featuring Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, bop along to the below video which is sure convince you that this is a musical not to be missed when it comes to the Academy of Music, August 6-11, 2024.
