Free Student Matinees

Grades K - 12

Our Student Matinees offer students and teachers unique opportunities to attend professional and student performances on our stages. Join us for an exciting day bringing students from across the city together for free matinees.

Schools in need may be eligible for free bus transportation. 



PHILADANCO! performances are offered free for school groups on PHILADANCO! Days. The Fall matinee is appropriate for grades 2nd-6th. The Spring matinee is reserved for 7th-12th grade students.

Philadelphia Ballet

Students from public, private and parochial Schools in Philadelphia, Camden, NJ, and surrounding areas are invited to attend school-day matinees of select Philadelphia Ballet performances at the Academy of Music.

Student Dress Rehearsals:

This free program for 5th through 12th grades includes student and teacher resources, creating a space for students to engage with this art form and participate in meaningful conversations. Opera Philadelphia’s 2022-2023 season tells familiar stories in a new light. Jane H. Kesson School Concert Program

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Jane H. Kesson School Concert Program is the ideal way to expose students in grades 3–5 to the exciting and powerful art form of orchestral music. School Concerts familiarize students with the environment and traditions of a concert hall, equip them with fundamental musical vocabulary, and cultivate a lifelong interest in classical music.

Open Rehearsals for Students

For Middle and High School Students

Don’t miss the opportunity to go behind the scenes and watch The Philadelphia Orchestra at work in rehearsal, where students have the opportunity to observe firsthand the artistic collaboration between world-class musicians and conductors. Open Rehearsals begin promptly and include a 20-minute break. If necessary, groups may leave during this intermission, which occurs approximately one hour into the rehearsal.
