Comedian, actor, host, and writer Hasan Minhaj brings his hilarious commentary to the Merriam this fall!
The former longest-running correspondent on the Emmy and Peabody award-winning The Daily Show (he was the last hire Jon Stewart made) will begin hosting his own weekly Netflix series this fall which will “explore the modern cultural and political landscape with depth and sincerity”. Hasan is the first Indian American host to front a weekly comedy show.
In 2014, he was invited to be a part of the Sundance Institute’s prestigious New Frontier Story Lab where he developed his solo show Homecoming King. The show debuted off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Winter 2015 to critical acclaim and a subsequent sold-out national tour. Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King is now streaming as a comedy special on Netflix, and has been received to rave reviews. The show was nominated for a 2018 Peabody Award, for which Hasan hosted the annual ceremony. In 2017, Hasan had the prestigious honor of hosting the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington DC.
Hasan has also appeared in a number of television shows including Arrested Development, Getting On and @midnight on Comedy Central. He has also been in major films such as The Spy Who Dumped Me alongside Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon and Justin Theroux as well as Rough Night and Most Likely To Murder.
