KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS EMMY® NOMINATED ACTOR, SCREENWRITER, AND STAND-UP COMEDIAN, KEVIN JAMES

BRAND-NEW THE IRREGARDLESS TOUR HITS PHILADELPHIA FOR ONE-NIGHT-ONLY, JUNE 16, 2023

James excels at goofy yet graceful physical comedy.” -Thrillist

“Kevin James proves there’s still a place for uncontroversial comedy.” -National Review

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 27, 2023) –– The Kimmel Cultural Campus presents, in association with Live Nation, The King of Queens actor and stand-up comedian, Kevin James, on his The Irregardless Tour, at the Academy of Music on the Kimmel Cultural Campus on June 16, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. Named one of Comedy Central’s Top 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians, James is one of the most well-known comedians in television and film.

James began his career in stand-up on the Long Island comedy scene. After being discovered at the 1996 Montreal Comedy Festival, he signed a network development deal to create his own sitcom, The King of Queens, which garnered him an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. The show concluded its run in 2007 but continues to air daily in syndication across the country and around the world. James also starred in and executive produced The Crew, a sitcom set in the world of NASCAR; he is currently developing a single camera comedy (both for Netflix).

“James’ energy, combined with his slapstick, physical comedy, has propelled his career for years, making him a household name,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Widely regarded for his perfected art of family-friendly comedy in both film and television, The Irregardless Tour has James returning to his roots as a stand-up comedian for a brand-new show.”

In 2001, James released his first one-hour stand-up comedy special about life’s many royal pains, Sweat the Small Stuff, for Comedy Central. James and Ray Romano executive co-produced and starred in the 2005 HBO Sports special Making the Cut: The Road to Pebble Beach, which highlighted the Pebble Beach Pro AM Golf Tournament and was nominated for a Sports Emmy Award. His second comedy special, Never Don’t Give Up, premiered on Netflix in 2018 to critical acclaim.

James has co-produced and starred in blockbuster movies such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop 1 & 2, Zookeeper, Here Comes the Boom, HITCH, and The Crew. His repertoire includes iconic comedy movies – alongside other comedic legends like long-time collaborator Adam Sandler –who starred in both Grown Ups 1 & 2, plus I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Samantha Bee: Your Favorite Woman (April 29, 2023, Miller Theater), Girls Gotta Eat: Snack City Tour (May 11, 2023, Miller Theater), Sasha Velour: The Big Reveal Tour (May 18, 2023, Perelman Theater) The Capitol Fools (May 20, 2023, Perelman Theater), and John Mellencamp: Live and In Person (June 3, 2023, Miller Theater).
